The day Saturday just started out comical and I decided to share it with you.

Lately, hubby and I have been contemplating purchasing a new vehicle. We tossed up the idea that maybe now would be the best time to buy, due to the economy and the car dealerships giving out great deals, right?... Little things, (cosmetical, not mechanical) are starting to show signs of an aging vehicle on our Expedition; Passenger side window not rolling down, left blinker out, etc... Perhaps the most costly is the need for new tires. We began our search on the internet for the best deals and came to the conclusion that we would just keep the one we have until it DIES. It's paid for, and we really didn't want a car payment anyway...O.k., here's the funny part. Hubby decides the more he can fix himself, the least amount of cost to us. He starts out Saturday by purchasing a new motor for the passenger side window, a new blinker, and a brand new set of tires. Everything was great until he got to the window and replaced the old motor with the new one and the window still wouldn't budge. What he did next is what you should never do. He began taking the door apart in order to get a better view of the parts of the window. A thirty minute job turned into MUCH more, and hubby finally called the Ford Dealership. Long story short, Ford said , "bring it in, but put it all back together, we don't want to have to mess with several pieces." I have to say, hubby did a great job of jamming it all back in the door. But is Ford in for a surprise when they get the covering to the door off. And we'll try not to be too surprised when we get the bill. Ever heard the saying, "It'll cost you more if you try to fix it yourself first!?

"<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/Sce40dAMshI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/e2iKm7q1mzw/s320/Chattanooga+and+Window+092.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316421096412328466" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/Sce40GSIObI/AAAAAAAAAZ0/nV03nsRMyiY/s320/Chattanooga+and+Window+091.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5316421090313517490" />

Trouble with the law...again!

Ha. Did I get your attention? Some of you know that I got a speeding ticket on New Year's Eve going to Kennesaw to do a good deed. I was going down Hwy. 75 in hubby's truck, jamming to Journey, not paying attention to my speedometer.(sp?) I didn't hear the sirens, but the blue lights definitely got my attention. I pulled over and watched in my rearview mirror as "Roscoe P Co Train" got out of his car and walked toward the truck. I giggled nervously as I thought about what I could say..."I'm in labor...Could you make this quick?" but he was at my door before I could come up with a believable excuse. "What's your hurry", he asked? I smiled in disbelief when he told me how fast I was going, and I replied, "Are you sure about that, because this truck doesn't go that fast. When's the last time you had that radar gun serviced?" Not really that last part...(about the radar gun, but I was thinking it.) I sat and waited, turning up the "Journey" CD as he went back to his car to write my ticket. (still giggling nervously inbetween singing notes to "I"m forever yours, FaithfullY..." Anyway, I wished him a Happy New Year's and I was off. I stuffed the ticket in my two foot deep black purse and forgot about it...thus forgetting my court date, and payment of ticket...oops! Hubby, the reposible adult in our relationship, thankfully, reminded me of it, but I had already missed my court date. I was able to get online and pay it with a big fat late fee. But not before they suspended my license..uurgh! So now, I'm just having to go to the trouble of proof of payment to the Bartow County Court to clear everything up(because of my irresponsibility in the first place.) I'm really hoping to outgrow this "stage" soon, as it's bothering my hubby deeply.

Catch Up!

It's been so long since I've last blogged, I don't really even know where to start. I guess I'll start with the present. The big thing going on right now in our lives is obviously the church. We have found property that we are interested in and trying to work on possibly relocating. Right now, our church is kind of hidden in a culdesac of a neighborhood. It's a lovely church building, but with no signs, and being in a residential location, most people say, "There's a church back there?" There is excitement as God is showing us direction in the possibility of relocating to Martha Berry Hwy.
Our #3 is also keeping us busy with basketball. It's her first year playing, but we marvel at her natural abilities with it. <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SZmFkoq_Y6I/AAAAAAAAAYk/vzSGqpSZ0Ds/s320/Morgan%27s+Basketball+Game+004.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303416900644987810" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SZmFkat-I2I/AAAAAAAAAYc/VnEA8O19070/s320/Morgan%27s+Basketball+Game+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303416896899392354" />
#2 is doing quite well with her flute playing, and will also be running track for the middle school in the spring. #1 will also be running track for the middle school, as well as playing fast-pitch softball. Our baby, #4, starts baseball next month, and is so excited!
Hubby is still commuting to Atlanta everyday as well as pastoring the church here. I am staying busy substitute teaching at the middle and high schools, and taxi-ing the family to all the places we need to go.
God is good and we are so very blessed to be a healthy family that can do all the things that we do and are involved with. I don't ever want to take that for granted! As I see all the needs around us, I realize how blessed we are.

King Tut...

I went along with #2's class to the Atlanta Civic Center last week to see the King Tut exhibit. It was pretty amazing what has been uncovered, almost an untouched tomb of King Tut and TONS of gold and riches. There were alot of statues of Egyptian Pharaohs on display as well that have been recovered.

"Howard Carter uncovered the remarkably preserved tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922, he created a worldwide sensation. The only tomb of its era found intact and full of indescribable treasures, it was also the first major discovery in the age of easy worldwide communication. That, along with rumors of a mysterious curse, helped make Tutankhamun the most popular of the Egyptian pharaohs in the modern world. Here, you will learn about his life, his death and the ancient curses that shaped King Tut's world."

This past Saturday was an exciting day for the kids as #2 got to ride in a helicopter with a pilot, and #3 took a ride in a small single engine prop plane with the pilot, and actually got to fly it herself. The second Saturday of every month the "Tiger Flight" group offers flights to kids age 8-18. There is no charge for this, and the pilots take the kids up individually. Hubby took the girls and the camera, and I stayed home with #4, as he wasn't yet old enough for the flights. Hubby claimed he took some great pics, but when he got home to download them, there didn't seem to be a "memory card" in the camera...so none of the pictures turned out. It was my fault, the memory card was in my purse. We plan on going back next month and will make sure we're prepared with the camera. #3 came home so excited and informed me she had changed her mind about being a waitress...she wants to be a pilot instead.

http://www.tigerflightfoundation.org/TourBUW/museum.htm

Our #1 was at the Middle School Basketball game on Saturday morning and missed out on the flight, but she plans on going next month.

Time Doesn't Stop

I can't believe time is flying by so fast! It's been nearly a month since I've blogged, yet there's really so much that I could share about the past four weeks. A beautiful beach wedding, my "Sweet Sixteen" Class reunion in Midtown, and a wonderful Ladies Retreat that I attended this past weekend. Wow! I have stayed very busy subbing as well, which is good. It's nice working when I want to, and staying at home when I need to clean or get things done. In the midst of all of this, my computer crashed...so I am still trying to catch up on some things I missed. I will be posting some pics also, as soon as I get computer stuff caught up. Recently I was hired on by Floyd County to be a substitute teacher. I received my first call on Sept. 9th, (which is my birthday...so I had to decline...duh!) I know that's not the best of excuses but...I didn't tell them why I couldn't sub that day. ANYWAY...last Friday I got a call from the high school and I accepted. My job for the day...to fill in for the Home Economics teacher. Now, first of all...you would think after being a Homemaker for 12 years...but no. I explained to the class, I was going to do the work with them instead of teach them. We read together and answered together. They wrote it all down and actually had something to turn in showing they did work. That was my first two classes. Then came the SEWING class, which the teacher had warned me..."contains several students with behavior problems." I had to laugh! I was about to reap what I had sewn. She left me a note with this exciting information, and told me to let them finish watching a film they had begun the day before. Judging from the looks of the vhs, I assumed it probably had atleast 45 min. left to go. So when the kids came in, yelling, "Yeah, Free day...substitute", I quickly told them to sit down while I took roll. I then started the movie and told them to act interested. To my surprise, it only had about ten minutes left. They were like, "Mrs. Huff, we have an hour and a half left in this class...what are we going to do now?..."We watched most of this dumb video yesterday...""Can we get our cell phones and Ipods out and just have a free day?"...Yeah right! One girl came bouncing up, batting her eyelashes, and asked if she could go show another teacher some pictures she had on her camera. Said she might forget if she couldn't go right then. I told her she looked like a smart girl, and if she'd go sit down and write herself a note to show the teacher the pictures later, it would all turn out fine. She then rolled her eyes, but did bounce back to her seat. I told them I realized they had already watched the movie, but sometimes...you have to watch a movie twice to get it all. So, I rewound it and started it over... Thankfully, about 45 minutes into the movie, I was saved by an evacuation drill and surprise pep rally for the students. Whew...What a day!
I was called in again yesterday at the high school...this time for the Band Director. O.K. I figured someone was playing a joke on me. But in reality, it was quite an experience...so much I can't even write it all down today. But I figure...the football coach is going to need a day off in the near future, and I'll most likely be the one they call.

Labor Day

Thanks to my family that came up on Labor Day. Here goes... Hubby has been pastoring since November, and up until this past Sunday night, I've done pretty well at being a quiet Pastor's wife.(I know some of you may find this hard to believe.) Anyway, we were having a fellowship time after the service this night and I was still in the kitchen preparing food when church started. So after the chicken finished cooking, I scooted in church about 10 minutes into the service. Our worship leader was out of town for the holiday weekend, so hubby was up front leading the singing. I tried to quietly make my way down to the third pew where our children were sitting. Hubby was through the first verse of the song when I sat down and grabbed myself a hymnal. I felt a little bad for him because I couldn't hear anyone else singing, and figured he couldn't either. So...to really show my support, I began to sing out good and strong. After the second of four verses, #1 whispered something to me...but I smiled, blew her off and got louder. I mean I was really belting it out holding the end notes so as to be heard by hubby. He would just look and me and smile during the song, like he was so proud of me. And I would smile back and sing out stronger, never missing a beat. The service went smooth after the singing, and hubby brought a good message. We ate together with the people after church, enjoyed ourselves and then went home. It wasn't until we were getting ready for bed, that hubby looked at me and said, "Why did you sing all the way through my solo tonight?"
I think I laughed myself to sleep...first out of embarrassment, but then because it was all just plain funny! and I couldn't figure out why hubby just couldn't find the humor in it all.

LIFE

It has been a little crazy around our house to say the least. School has started back, and the kids are all enjoying themselves so far. Even #4 can't wait to go to school everyday! I am so thankful for the great teachers that they all have this year.
The church is doing well, the parsonage is up for sale, and we're keeping a lookout for and praying about new church property in the near future. God has blessed the church and we have some new people coming. I am doing Junior Church three Sundays out of the month, Children's Choir, and helping out with the kid's class on Wednesday evenings. We are much in prayer about children and teen workers for our church.
Hubby is still driving to Atlanta at least three days a week, and God is blessing him there as well, and giving him strength and wisdom for each new day.
#1 made the fast pitch softball team, so we've been going to her practices for that. I can't wait for her games to start.
Along with everything else, I am planning a class reunion for our high school with help from a few friends and fellow graduates.
Life is busy sometimes... but God is Good All the Time!

Almost done!

The pool is getting closer to completion everyday. A couple at our church had brought them to me to plant a couple of months ago. We watched each day as they grew taller, watered them as needed, picked the buds off like we were told to do, and then last week, some little cherry tomatoes popped out all over. I couldn't wait for them to ripen so we could pick and eat them. They are #4's favorite! Then yesterday, I was doing my daily check, and ALL the cherry tomatoes were GONE! My first thought was that the kids picked them. Then I noticed the "vine" look was gone. It looked more like green sticks poking up out of the ground. THEN I noticed two huge caterpillars attached to the stems. They had eaten all the tomatoes, the buds were gone, and practically the whole vine. Goodness gracious! Well, there goes that!! Guess I'll be going down to the Piggly Wiggly if I want some maters!<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SKBWPIkW80I/AAAAAAAAAR4/EnxMr7ORJgg/s320/caterpillar+and+working+on+the+car+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5233277585002525506" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SKBWWDLc03I/AAAAAAAAASA/ZU46VOQWWPQ/s320/caterpillar+and+working+on+the+car+003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5233277703814959986" />

First Day of School

Our kids started school today. They were car riders this morning since it was their first day. The different looks on their faces as they got out of the car displayed their different personalities. #1 was excited and couldn't get out of the car fast enough; #2 looked a bit terrified as it was her first day as a middle schooler; #3 was a bit nervous, but excited too. We actually dropped her off with tears in her eyes, said she was worried about me being by myself all day.(Bless her heart!) And #4, a new pre-k'r, was eager to get in his class to make new friends. He had already spotted a cute girl and told me "that's who I'm gonna go out with." Told me he liked her cute clothes and bow in her hair.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SJMQ2MRX1gI/AAAAAAAAARw/7GT14rnPuWw/s320/first+day+of+school.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5229542115500348930" />

Pool in Progress

Do you know how disturbing it is to look outside on a 100 degree day, and not be able to jump in the big hole in the backyard? Today, when men and women of the US Armed Forces are scattered across the world, by choice, protecting our freedom, while we live comfortably at home, and work at our jobs in a safe and secure environment..Let us not forget those who are out there for one sole purpose...so that we can enjoy our security here at home in America. To those who have served, or are presently serving our country, I just want to say, "Thank you!!"

Last Sunday at church, we had a Military Appreciation Service. We honored the men in our congregation that had previously served our country in the Armed Forces. Some came home wounded from war, some retired after twenty plus years of service, and some never saw the battle fronts, but all were willing, if need be, to give everything for the freedom that we enjoy today. The kids choir sang a few patriotic songs, and then we presented gifts to each of them. <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SHBEtR8rPgI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/bjiF8mYpXZ0/s320/July+4th+Svc.+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5219747512825101826" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SHBEtwz0eJI/AAAAAAAAARA/rr_Wpdu8Gw8/s320/July+4th+Svc.+008.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5219747521109457042" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SHBEuGtaMFI/AAAAAAAAARI/5LuOK6zKMuM/s320/July+4th+Svc.+010.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5219747526988148818" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SHBEuQ3yNNI/AAAAAAAAARQ/CIxGxPBdYrU/s320/July+4th+Svc.+012.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5219747529716020434" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SHBFHgD2bHI/AAAAAAAAARY/5ZagoTkqb0c/s320/July+4th+Svc.+013.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5219747963289889906" />
In the words of Mother Theresa, "The purpose of life is not to be happy, but to matter." It's been a while since I've blogged. Number three and I, along with another seven year old from our church attended Kid's camp last week at the good ole Camp Adrian Nazarene campground. We had a blast! I have fond memories of Camp Adrian as a child and teenager, and I now enjoy going along as a counselor when given the opportunity. This year only one week worked out for me to attend, due to hubby's work schedule. Anyway, I'll share a little with you about our time there.

First of all, it was nice to be able to room with our friends from Sharpsburg.
There were also girls in our room from Jackson and Barnesville, Ga.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SGRfjTnjqxI/AAAAAAAAAN4/ngZsAgWX5NY/s320/camp+013.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216399328568126226" /> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SGRgJhiZKoI/AAAAAAAAAOA/lgrHIWLNhas/s320/camp+012.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216399985139591810" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SGRhCfVkuVI/AAAAAAAAAOI/czzn8iPRsHY/s320/camp+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216400963801495890" />
Making icecream (below)during group time...
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SGRhC8C5_PI/AAAAAAAAAOQ/LDJJkObtOJg/s320/camp+006.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216400971507825906" />
I know it's gross, but we had to have a belching contest...
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SGRh3djnowI/AAAAAAAAAOo/qYY_WKD7vzY/s320/camp+019.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216401873856602882" />
One got sick to her stomach trying to make herself burp...Yes, she threw up, and yes, I laughed!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SGRh3lahK1I/AAAAAAAAAOw/nTtU0lM9IiM/s320/camp+029.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216401875965913938" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SGRi1RJo4eI/AAAAAAAAAPA/yhgW8D-PEaM/s320/camp+023.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216402935678296546" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SGRjiOpGqWI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/dWAj94b6XmU/s320/camp+026.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216403708099078498" />

And the most important reason of all for kid's camp...finding Jesus Christ as Saviour, and learning to serve him everyday! Well, apparently some still do. This morning before I had even opened my eyes from my restful nights sleep, I was awakened by a loud banging noise. My eyes popped open, I sat up straight, and realizing the house was still dark and the kids were still fast asleep, I lay back down and decided I must have dreamed it. Then another loud "bang, bang, bang!!!" My eyes popped open again, and my second thought was maybe a neighborhood kid, looking for someone to play with besides the roosters! I didn't know, but I certainly thought they'd go away when they saw that the house was still dark and nobody stirring about. And then it happened again..."Bang, Bang, Bang!", and this time it ticked me off! I threw the covers off of my half dressed self, hair sticking up, my pin dot eyes, and I went to the door thinking, "Whoever this is, they're going to be sorry they about broke my front door in!" I opened the door just far enough to stick my neck out, and there stood Minnie Mouse(not really Minnie Mouse), on my front door step, holding a bag of books. She squeaked out that she was a college student from Texas, and then had the audacity to ask me if she woke me up.(Nah! I slept right through you busting my door down.) I smiled...that's all I could do...because I wasn't dare going to open my mouth! At this point you'd think she would have said she would come back later. But no...she went on with her spill about her educational books and about how they were a great tool for the kids homework and Blah, Blah, Blah. Her words ran together as I envisioned my picture in the paper with the heading..."Outraged woman with some serious anger problems hurls college student off front porch ...by the hair...kicks her across the yard, as she's yelling..."If you ever beat on my door again before daylight, I'll throw you back to Texas with my bare hands!!!" I smiled at the thought!
She goes on and on, and then...here's the kicker...She plops herself down on my top step and opens the bag. Tells me if I'll just come out and have a seat,(she pats the space beside her) she'll explain all about the books. It was then I opened my mouth and very politely told her I wasn't interested in the books. She said, "oh, o.k. then, let me just pack my stuff back up and I'll be on my way." I watched as she gathered her books,scads of paper with name and numbers , testimonials from people that tried it and loved it,(from pre internet times to be sure...) and it was then a pang of guilt washed over me. Here's this student trying to earn money to pay her way through school. That could be one of mine one day I suppose. But seriously, ticking people off is not the route you should take if you want their money, right? I watched as she tripped back to her car that was parked on the street, and I went and made some coffee. There was no going back to bed now. My adrenaline had slowed just enough to drink a cup and recall the last fifteen minutes of my weird morning.
Oh, and no pictures of this event--thank goodness.)

My Artwork

One of the things I love to do in my spare time, (not much of it), is paint! A fellow blogger/friend inspired me to put some of my artwork on a post. While in Newnan, I painted the kids rooms all kinds of colorful ways. So of course before we sold the house there, I had to do some major repainting to neutral colors. I was a little sad when I went in and had to paint over some of the rooms, as the paint job(s) were "presents" to the kids. Both for #1's and #2's tenth birthday, I did their rooms as a surprise. They each told me the colors they liked, but I did the rest--and they couldn't see it until the job was completely done. So naturally, I had grown a little sentimental.

I took some pictures of the rooms before I painted over them, so I will share them with you. This will make me feel better, as I didn't really know what I would do with these pictures...I just knew I wanted to keep the memories. <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SE9CkOV5ZyI/AAAAAAAAANQ/81ruPi9V-ik/s320/my+artwork+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210456483983615778" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SE9Ck1JmgmI/AAAAAAAAANY/l3jRufdN74k/s320/my+artwork+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210456494401028706" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SE9CmYWxxBI/AAAAAAAAANg/M06lWqUS_aU/s320/my+artwork+004.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210456521031402514" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SE9CmmNz7vI/AAAAAAAAANo/Rl8FfbhM5sM/s320/my+artwork+007.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210456524751892210" />
Of course, here in Rome, it's like I have all these clean canvases called walls. I have only had time to do one back wall so far,(#3 wanted a monkey theme, so I did a mural) but there will be more to come as things start to settle. (Most likely after the summer months). <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SE9CnX9aCPI/AAAAAAAAANw/W8DTLC7HvbU/s320/my+artwork+008.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210456538104858866" />

Update on hubby: He's waiting on blood test results, but doc did seem to think it was Lymes disease. Said it would be the first reported case in Floyd County, which excited the doctor. In the meantime, I thought he could take antibiotics, but no...not until the test results are back...so hubby is really feeling pretty bad. Hopefully, he'll hear something by this Thursday and can then start meds.

Busy Summer So Far!

It seems it's been non-stop since the kids have been out of school. We just returned from Dublin, Ga. where we attended a Missionary Convention and District Assembly. I especially enjoyed the missionary services! The speaker was a third generation missionary to Africa (retired), and the stories he told about what God is doing over there were absolutely amazing! I want to go to Africa now.

Tomorrow will be another one of those Manic Mondays, as I get our teens off to church camp for the week. My #1 will be attending as well, and she is so excited!

Hubby will be going to the Doctor tomorrow for what we think,(according to info. from the intenet) is Lyme Disease. It was great to see friends at church on Wed. night and I have had a good time visiting everyone while here! This is the first trip I have actually got to visit without running back to our old house cleaning, painting, packing, etc. What a relief!!! It has been so good catching up with family and friends! Thanks to Mom and Dad for a nice warm bed, sis for the same, Roadrunner for going with me to the furniture store, Danetta and family for a great supper, and Pam and family for the delicious ice cream!(and coffee) I plan on having lunch with friends tomorrow after appt. and then it's back to Rome. Hubby's kinda missing me and the kids by now, and is ready for us to get home. I'll write more when I get back to Rome.

Books, Picnic and Playtime!

Today #3 went on a field trip to the library. After time spent there, the kids walked along about a mile trail that lead to a park and picnic area. The parents were invited to meet the kids at the park, have a picnic, and take their child home from there. I met #3 with my sack lunch about 11:30, along with several other parents. She(#3) surprised me with a book that she had written and illustrated herself, entitled "All About Mom." I loved it!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SDYdD_urzUI/AAAAAAAAAMg/6fO18jms5ac/s320/Morgan%27s+Field+Trip+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5203378373957242178" />
After we ate, the kids started spreading out on the playground areas. All except #3, she wanted to hike back to the library and show me around. So that's what we did. As they all got off the bus looking a little frazzled from their school day, I told them to go wash up a little and fix their hair because their ride would soon be arriving. Keep in mind, they didn't know about the limo, so most completely ignored me and went right out and started jumping on the trampoline. I didn't want to give the "cool ride" away, but I didn't want them to go stinking either. I finally said, "Mr. Frank is on the way and he said to be ready. Now come in and brush your hair and put on some more deodorant!" With that said, they piled in and ran upstairs and got ready. When the limo pulled up, they were waiting on the front porch. The girls were all gawking and wondering who was getting the ride in style. As it was pulling in, a back window was rolled down and there was Frank, hollering something at the girls.(insert: Frank is a kid trapped in a man's body)
The girls were all like, "Sweet! We're going in that! So Cool! etc..." They all got in and they were off to the movies.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-KPbuVaBI/AAAAAAAAAKQ/-y8MOL3ZFkU/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201528092380981266" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-KP7uVaCI/AAAAAAAAAKY/fE9caBdm1Kk/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201528100970915874" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-KQbuVaDI/AAAAAAAAAKg/15JTLCKIuVg/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+004.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201528109560850482" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-KQruVaEI/AAAAAAAAAKo/t5h0SHu_wlA/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+007.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201528113855817794" />
I had a few hours to get all the food ready and games prepared for when they all returned. Hubby tried to fit in school work during this time so that he could actually enjoy the party later.

When they did return, they ate and answered questions pertaining to the movie and how it compared biblically. They all commented and seemed to really enjoy the movie. (especially Prince Caspian himself) They said he was "Hot!" <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-PdbuVaFI/AAAAAAAAAKw/jx8gpfrg7lA/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+012.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201533830457288786" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-X8buVaSI/AAAAAAAAAMY/o7YdwvmeGgU/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+013.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201543159126255906" />
We played a few games with the girls, including Queen for a Day", and "The ugliest person in the World." (also, hide'n seek---yes, that's someone in our clothes dryer)In Queen for a Day, the participants were blindfolded one at a time, and led in to bow before the king (hubby). In order to be crowned queen, they were told to lean down and kiss the kings ring, (which was on my finger, but they couldn't see this part.) When I took the blindfold off, hubby had his foot propped onto the table with a ring on his big toe, to make them think that they had kissed his foot.(another insert here: Hubby's big toenail was completely black from an old injury---disgusting!) It was hilarious and one girl actually about got sick.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-PdruVaGI/AAAAAAAAAK4/ZYYA9MfS6QE/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+017.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201533834752256098" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-PeLuVaHI/AAAAAAAAALA/-F6-9PUXIZY/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+018.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201533843342190706" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-PebuVaII/AAAAAAAAALI/vXWilG_P11c/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+022.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201533847637158018" /><
In The Ugliest Person in the World game, Frank put a big blanket over himself. I told the girls privately that the joke was actually on Frank, and when they peeked under the blanket(one at a time), they were to scream and pass out. In reality, the joke was on the last participant, because when she peeked, Frank screamed and passed out,(girl in green--she was a good sport.)<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-XMbuVaPI/AAAAAAAAAMA/TwJraX5MLhk/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+024.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201542334492535026" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-XLruVaOI/AAAAAAAAAL4/46BbZzrvviA/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+023.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201542321607633122" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-XMruVaQI/AAAAAAAAAMI/JFG2joVHVwI/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+025.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201542338787502338" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_gnSxoLJfJm8/SC-XM7uVaRI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/AdVy3Q2Nmwo/s320/Youth+Group-movie+and+party+026.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201542343082469650" />

It seemes a good time was had by all!!! Our Youth leader preordered tickets, and all the kids are once again getting off the bus at our house to get ready for the 4:45pm show. After the movie, they're returning to our home for a party. Frank (Youth Director), has prepared a limo to come and pick them all up from our house (this part is a surprise!)and take them to the movie. It should all be very exciting for them, and I plan on taking lots of pictures. I will be posting them to my blogspot sometime after the party's all over...so stay tuned.

Hubby has been working 12 hour days this week at work,(due to a chiller---whatever that is---blowing up downtown) along with a very intense class that he is taking on-line right now. (Along with two mortgages and three sermons a week) He only has one more week of this class, and I'm praying that he doesn't have a stroke before it's all over with.(or after it's over with). Please say a prayer for him if you think about it. We would very much appreciate it.

We have had an offer on our house in Newnan, and we are in the negotiation process right now. I don't know what she'll be receiving, but you had to be invited to attend, so apparently she's being awarded for something. We'll see! I know it's not perfect attendance, or even good attendance. She has missed so much school. Just last week she had pneumonia. Ever since she had that extremely bad episode with asthma, her lungs are very weak.

#2 and #3 both were tested for the Gifted Program and were accepted starting in the fall. I've got to tell people about this!" For me, Vitamin Water is one of those products. The first time I drank one, I happened upon it almost accidentally. My #2 needed an empty 20 oz. bottle in school for a project, and she waited til the morning of the day it was needed to inform me. I got her on the bus, then I jumped in my truck and drove to Piggly Wiggly. Vitamin Water was the first 20 oz. bottle I saw. I grabbed it, paid for it, and I was on my way to her school. On the way, I guzzled it down, so it would be empty when I dropped it off at the school. I got home about 30 minutes after my day had started by getting her on the bus. I walked in the door, and I was like lightning through the house, cleaning, washing, etc., totally out of character for me. It was crazy, really. I didn't actually connect the two until later---I just figured my adrenaline was flowing because of the running around I had to do so early in the morning.

The next time I bought it was maybe a week later, when my puppy came down with parvo. I was willing to try anything, and I was already giving him IV's to keep him hydrated. I went and bought some Vitamin Water and gave it to him by way of syringe, (since he wouldn't drink anything on his own.) I'm not kidding, it was the next day, he met me at the kitchen door, wagging his tail, and acting almost back to normal. That day, I put Vitamin Water in his water bowl, and he ended up drinking about 20 oz on his own. Supposedly, there's all these vitamins in it, (plus natural caffeine).

I have bought it ever since, and I'm telling you, there's nothing like it. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it! Especially if you just need a pick me up, or are needing to get things accomplished and have no motivation. There are all sorts of flavors, and all the ones I've tried, I've enjoyed!

Mother's Day

Let me start out by saying, "I love being a mom!" It's not always easy, but it's the best job I've ever had! I am so blessed and very thankful!!!

I also want to say how fortunate I am to have a wonderful mother. She has always been there for me, loved me unconditionally, and set a Godly example that she prayed I would follow. I try everyday still, to be the mom to my children that she is to me. "Thanks mom!", if you're reading this!

four generations here--my mammommie, mom, me and sis, and my girls. After the service, we set out for McIntosh Reserve in Whitesburg, Georgia. There, we met my family from Newnan for a picnic and a good time. Hubby and I were to bring the paper products, plates, cups, napkins, etc. We passed a few Super Walmarts, Dollar Generals, Big Lots---but hubby kept saying, "We'll stop when we get a bit closer." Ok, whatever....

We finally stopped about one mile away from McIntosh Reserve, and paid at least double for our paper products... (maybe kept this little store in business for another month...)

It ended up being a beautiful day, considering the storms the night before. We ate, talked, fished, played baseball, (with a tennis ball) and hiked. My #3 and I went on a little hike to the bathroom because she refused to use the porta-potty. We stayed on the trail, and on the way back, she came about 1/2 inch from stepping on a snake. I saw it just as she came to it, and hollered for her to jump. I think I scared her, but she did jump, thus missing the snake. Thank goodness. It didn't look poisoness, but I'm sure it would of hurt if it had bitten her. (I regret not taking my camera along on the bathroom hike.) The snake was about 2ft. long and skinny. Yuk! But, bless her heart, I guess she was just destined to get hurt, because when we got back to the site, she took her shoes off and climbed in the back of mom's suv. As she was climbing back out, she sliced one of her toes about 1/3 through. I always carry Neosporin, so after she finally quit bleeding, I doctored and bandaged her up. And FYI, super glue works just as good or better than stitchess.(true!) Of course, there are no pictures of this incident because I was busy!

After a great day with family at the park, we rode through Cedartown and stopped by a couple's house from our church. We were all pretty stuffed from lunch, but as we walked through the door of their home, we were offered homemade strawberry ice-cream, cookies, and all kind of goodies. And they meant their offer, they had all the places set for our family to sit, eat and enjoy. And we did enjoy! They are the sweetest couple and have blessed us tremendously. They are both blind, but you should see the love and talent that abounds! He is a retired College Professor, plays several instruments, and does wood working as a hobby. She retired from the school system, where she taught the visually handicap for many years. It amazes me the talent God has blessed them with, and how they have blessed so many others in return.

We arrived home safely, and as the day came to a close, I was reminded again of how blessed I am as a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister and friend! Thank you, God, for my wonderful life!

Please excuse me....

Ok...so maybe I exaggerated a little with the last post. What is wrong with me? I eat when I'm hungry, and I eat when I'm full. I eat when I'm happy, and the kids are in school. I eat when I'm sad and feeling alone. I eat when I'm tired and when hubby is gone. I got me two dogs thinking they could fulfil, I take them on walks, but I keep eating still. I confided in hubby, I said something is wrong. It is truly hard to believe. It seems like just yesterday that we brought her home from the hospital, scared to death as new parents! How time flies!!

She told her dad a while back that for her thirteenth birthday she would like to have suite tickets to the Atlanta Braves game and invite some of her new friends from Rome. Surprisingly I wasn't thinking of the cost, but instead "Can we control that many thirteen year old, pubescent youngins in the Braves stadium for at least three hours?" We decided that we were certainly willing to try, and hubby was able to get sixteen suite tickets through his company--so we were all set.

By the time Game Day rolled around, birthday girl was so excited and could hardly wait til after school to leave for the game. After giving a quick lecture on safety and staying together, we left for the stadium. Hubby rode with a couple from our church, along with our younger kids, and I drove our truck with all the partiers. I mentally blocked out all noise and concentrated on just getting them there safely.

We arrived about an hour early, so we got all our food put away in the suite and had time to walk around a bit. I stayed at a distance so as not to claim them, but close enough to where I constantly knew their where abouts. They ended up at the Cartoon network ,Tooner Field, playing some games. They got a little out of control with the nerf baseballs, throwing them like dodge balls at point blank range when they were reprimanded by security. I still stayed at a distance! (kindof looking on like the other concerned parents as if to say, "why aren't these kids being supervised?"

For the most part, they watched the game and pigged out! When all was said and done, we had about 8 of 40 hotdogs left. We decided to play a game with them to see who could fit the most in

their mouth without chewing them up. I dropped all the guys off at their homes and brought the girls back to our house for a sleepover. Hubby and I dozed off about 2 am to the sounds coming from the kitchen... chip bags, scooping of ice cream, the hum of the microwave warming up moon pies, etc. We just looked at eachother, eyes half opened, and hubby said, "that's disgusting." I had to giggle, and with that we konked out. Along with him came a not so good smell. My nostrils were about his rear-end level. I peered up at him and asked, "Did you come in here and poot on Mommy? Without even a seconds hesitation he said, "Of course not---it was sister". I asked how it was that I could smell her all the way from another room? He grinned and said, " I was in there with her and she pooted. I smelled it and it went in my nose, and when I came in here to you I breathed out and it blew out my nose. That's how you smelled it all the way in here." ...Do I have a genius on my hands or what?

Take Your Daughter to Work Day

Yesterday was Take Your Daughter to Work Day. #1 and #2 enjoyed the day by waking up at 5:30 am and commuting to Atlanta with their dad. He said, "Go on down and paint what you can. The girls will be fine. I'll take good care of them." So #4 and I were off to Newnan...again. I painted, slept, painted, ate, painted some more...for two days like this. I was down to two bathrooms left to paint when I got the frantic call to come home. Hubby said, "I can't do this another day...get home right away, now, pronto..." I got home this morning at 2 am and had the kids on the bus at 7:05. We signed our house with a realestate agent on Friday, so we are hoping that the house will sell quickly now. We agreed to an "open sale", which means we can still find a buyer ourselves and pay no realestate commission-or an agent can bring the buyer and we make a little less. Either way is fine with me! I painted ALL day Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I left Saturday looking like a basset hound dog with those droopy eyes and I smelled like a farm animal. But---I got alot done. It was definately a very productive trip. Now...does anyone need a home in the Newnan area? We will make you a great deal!

Speaking of animals--I have to tell you a little more about Cooper. He did great for about a week after we rescued him from the shelter--and then all of a sudden one day, he stopped eating and would just lay around almost lifeless. There was also a strange smell permeating from his body that made me think of something the Dr. had told me. Remember the parvo "smell" he told me about? I immediately called the vet and they told me that parvo can actually be present in the body for 7 to 10 days before the dog actually shows any symptoms. So, I broke the news to the kids and explained to them the best I could that I probably wouldn't be bringing Cooper home from the Dr's office. They said their sad goodbyes and I left. Fully intending on having him put down, I asked if there was anything that I could do to save him. They told me most puppies die from the symptoms (dehydration), not the actual virus. Keep a dog hydrated--I can do that! I paid for the visit and I was on my way with Cooper the pup, a bag of IV fluid and some needles. Cooper was sick for the next five days as the virus tore it's way through his little body. The kid's and I would give him his IV everyday and then just watch him lay there. There were a couple of times I just didn't think he would make it--but he did! Long story short, Cooper is healthy today and the kids learned alot from the whole experience as well.

ON THE LOOSE!!

Training and Bird catching

I went to a four hour training class today at one of the local colleges. Trying to get things lined up to go back to work when #4 starts school in August. I did go and officially become a married woman with a new name last week. That's right--I made my way down to the social security office here in Rome ---(and became a "valid" Georgia driver again too.) So, finally, it's all done!

Revival services are still going on and it has been very refreshing.We started out for the church tonight and when I opened the door to go out, a bird flew in. I have a wreath on my front door that the birds just love to nest/play in. I definitely took it off guard and in it flew--bout flew right between my eyes. I ducked and started hollerin' for the kids to open the other doors so hopefully he would find his way out. Well, not so fast. It wasn't till he had flown in every room, pooped twice... that I know of , and knocked himself into several windows before he finally flew out the back door. How aggravating is that?

Revival and more

Revival and more

Revival began yesterday at our church. Steve Dennis brought two awesome messages and everyone there felt the presence of God right there among us. Last night was especially great as he talked about "stuff"---how it can keep us "out" of Heaven--and how ironically we can't take one single thing with us. We have to leave it here for someone else to fight over, throw away, or heres a good one--Pay for. It's just not worth it!! Wanting only leads to wanting more--we can just never have enough when we set our sights on "things". (pure misery is what you'll get) along with a boat load of debt! I'm not judging anyone here because I have done the same thing. Maybe not the big boat of debt--more like a paddle boat load for me--but none the less I've done it.

More on Cooper the pup...We got home with him and hubby comes out with a lopsided grin on his face. Then it turned into a smile. Cooper was just too handsome to resist. Hubby immediatley thought it was time to train him in every manner..slaps a leash on his collar and pulls a resistful Cooper down the street. Not the smartest of moves---especially since Cooper and hubby haven't yet "bonded".I took him the next day to the vet to start the immunization process. While I was there they explained to me that some other dogs had been in with"Parvo" that had come from the local animal shelter. The Dr. told me that Cooper looked very healthy and didn't have the parvo"smell" that comes along with this merciless virus, and frankly a test for parvo right then would be a waste of $30. So, we got done there and came home. He got a bath-teeth brushed with chicken flavor toothpaste, nails trimmed, etc. He was cute as a button and smelled like he'd been in Bath and Body for an hour.

Chillin #4 was accepted into the pre-k program starting in August---so it's finally time for me to go back to work. I haven't worked outside of the home in over then years, but I've worked my butt off inside the home! Raising four is no easy task, but I am so grateful for them and thankful I was able to stay home with them. (Thanks to God and hubby) Anyway, so much has changed as far as technology is concerned since I sat inside the offices of Morris & Schneider doing closing work for Realestate lawyers. So we will see...

New Roman!

This is my first blog....someone told me I should create a blog since I have moved to Rome, Georgia. Kind of a way for everyone to keep up with our family.

All the chillin's (#'s 1-4) are doing well, making new friends and enjoying their new schools and church. Hubby is staying extremely busy with full time job, commuting to Atlanta atleast three days a week, pastoring a church and going to school on line. But God is good and things are starting to settle somewhat since the move in January. Now if we could just get the house sold in Newnan, we would be doing swell. Two mortgage payments are for the birds!

Alot has happened till this point so I'm going to try to summerize! First off---they have camera enforced lights on some of the red lights up here in Rome. So the first week here they got my picture running a red light and sent me a ticket in the mail. Their way of welcoming me--thanks so much! Atleast they got the tag and not a picture of the driver...they would've seen me wrapping a present (not a joke)! Better still, the tag is in hubby's name so they could not pull my license info. They pulled hubby's. Thank goodness, due to fact I've been driving with a suspended license for over a year now. Let me explain that one.... I had not taken the time in fourteen years of marriage to go and officially change my name on my social security. Apparently, that's a big deal now. When I went in 2006 to get my license renewed, they told me I had 90 days to get my name changed or my license would be suspended. So suspended they were!

Our congregation is wonderful. There are some great people here in the Rome church where hubby pastors. They are all very supportive of him and his ministry. We have just got the ball rolling to sell the parsonage and put towards new property for the church. We hope to relocate the church soon, as right now we are not in the best of locations. We are just waiting on God to open the doors!

I miss everyone something terrible from Newnan... friends and family. I am making some great new friends here but it all takes time you know. I thought, "what would make me feel a little less lonely?" I went to the animal shelter and rescued me a pup. (much to hubby's dismay). I told the chillins we would all have to agree on the same one before we got him/her, and we would need to look for the ugliest one in there because that one's chance of survival would be the slimmest. You know, there wasn't one ugly one...so we decided on a pup that looked to be about 10 weeks old and was hiding behind a big ol black dog in the very last cage. The lady had to actually climb in the stinking cage to get him out. He was blond like a yellow lab with a black face of a German sheperd.(Cute mix actually) He looked to be healthy, so we went to the bonding room to make sure he wasn't an attack pup--and we were off! We talked about names on the way home, looking at street signs, store signs ect. The name Cooper (from Cooper Tires) stuck. Oh I forgot to tell you, hubby didn't make the trip to the shelter with us, thus not getting to bond with Cooper right away. (another story for another time)

I'm going to save the rest for another blog so as not to bore! Stay tuned...
